We kicked off our new collaboration with Suzie’s Farm in San Diego with a bang! We enjoyed a great farm tour in which we learned about beneficial weeds that grow at Suzie’s. Lamb’s quarters is an edible spinach that builds immunity; stinging nettle is a weed that can be a nuisance in the garden but highly beneficial medicinally. We also got the opportunity to learn about the chickens on Suzie’s Farm – we learned that healthy, organic chicken egg yolks should be bright orange as a result from the chicken’s healthy diet comprised of farm scraps that don’t make it to the market.
After the farm tour we enjoyed yoga lead by Sarah with hands on assistance from Megan. We practiced on beds of straw that served as a perfect cushy pad for our yoga mats, and were surrounded by beautiful mountain views.
Before dinner, Abby inspired guests to see the clouds on their plates and realize the interconnectedness of food systems, the immediate community and the extension of our yoga practices. For dinner, Green Truck team cooked up a phenomenal menu with the great addition of delicious avocados from Rancho J’Baile.
On a final note, we would like to thank Suzie’s Farm, Green Truck, our yoga instructors Sarah and Megan, everyone who contributed and came out for a beautiful day in San Diego’s fields.
Next up, we will be back at Suzie's Farm in San Diego with the dynamic-duo Amy and Michael Cadwell, who will be teaching yoga and Chef Gage in Green Truck's kitchen. Tickets already on sale here.
